Joe Michaels is a television, stage and special events director for over 40 years and photographer for most of his life.


On the Today Show, Joe has directed all types of TV from sports, hard news, Broadway & music performances and has traveled around the world a few times over....


Joe has also directed segments for Seinfeld, Donahue, 3rd Rock From The Sun, and 30 Rock and various music, film and commercial projects.  Senior Director for the Today Show and the Director of Opening Ceremonies at the 2014 Winter Olympics.  Joe produced and directed a live National Geographic Channel show, Brain surgery Live, the first live broadcast of a brain operation.

Most recently directed a benefit concert for the flood victims, Louisiana Rising and the coverage of the 2016 Democratic National Convention. Great story about the convention coverage:

Nominated for 12 Emmy awards Joe has won 8 awards and several Director Guild Awards. A member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the American Society of Media Photographers.
